Joint effect of space-time transmit diversity and equalization on single carrier transmission

چکیده

Abstract In a frequency-selective fading channel, the performance of single-carrier (SC) transmission significantly degrades due to severe inter-symbol-interference (ISI). In this paper, delay transmit diversity and space-time transmit diversity (STTD) as transmit diversity are combined with minimum mean square error (MMSE) frequency-domain equalization achieving frequency diversity effect while suppressing inter-symbol-inference (ISI) and its bit error rate (BER) performance is evaluated by computer simulation. It is found by computer simulation that BER performance achievable with joint use of frequency-domain equalization and transmit/receive antenna diversity can be significantly improved in a severe frequency-selective fading channel.
